Professor Chuck Beirnard is retiring at the end of a 26-year career with the UAA English Department. He has been highly respected for his integrity and academic rigor and held in great affection by his colleagues for his generosity in serving the institution and his unfailing good humor and wit. He has taught both writing and literature courses at all levels of the English curriculum and will be hard if not impossible to replace. We will miss him greatly but wish him the best of all possible retirements.
